The ski village of Montalbert is located in the Tarentaise valley, (Savoie), in the Northern Alps. It is part of Paradiski ski domain, which includes La Plagne and Les Arcs. Montalbert is at 1350 meters, which may not be amongst the highest resorts but the skiing can be as good as anywhere else in the Alps.
The slopes are north facing and are in a clearing in the forest. The tree lined slopes keep their snow better than a lot of high altitude resorts. Access to the pistes of La Plagne is by the chair lifts which take you first to 1600m, where there are several red and blue runs, which take you back to the village. Then at 1970 meters, (le Fournelet), you catch chair lifts to Plagne Centre (2000 meters).
The village suits mixed parties and is a great place to take the kids. There are several ski shops, ski schools for all abilities and the bars and restaurants do not carry a premium price tag. |
